Hex is a multi-functional piece of furniture that has been made with sustainably sourced Hoop Pine plywood from Queensland. Using timber ensures a sense of warmth when the piece is placed into a room. Using CNC fabrication is key as it streamlines manufacturing, ensuring accuracy and complexity of design. Hex can be used as a shelf, bedside table, laundry basket, side table or anything else the end user desires. It has been stained with a water based product and is hand assembled. A natural polish made from organic beeswax and extra virgin olive oil has been applied.
The focus of this design has been on it’s ability to be customised by adding or removing sides to create a see through piece or have an opening that can be used as storage. Hex can be stacked to create a shelving wall unit that can be used as a room divider either in the home or at the office. 3D printed brackets and connectors are used to ensure stability.
