Project Brief:
Objective:
Develop comprehensive branding for a festival, with a focus on customisable assets and merchandise. The festival may be an original concept or a redesign of an existing event from any location globally. Given the project's initiation in October, the chosen theme is a Halloween-themed event, acknowledging the growing popularity of this holiday in Australia, particularly as it is less traditionally celebrated on the Gold Coast.
Deliverables:
• Customisable lanyards suitable for attendees.
• Billboard design for high-impact visual advertising.
• Design and layout for both printable and digital tickets.
• Event-specific merchandise, including a tote bag and a screen-printed t-shirt featuring
three-color artwork.

Development Process:
The project commenced with the creation of two mood boards to establish the visual direction and overall feel of the event. Following a unanimous selection of the preferred mood board, the design phase began, focusing on the illustration and conceptualisation of the listed deliverables.

Everything starts with sketching. To work out design elements, layout, colour and detail.
I have to write all over the images and get the ideas down on paper or they disappear, never to be thought of again!

Blurb about the Festival:
The Gold Coast Halloween Festival, a dazzling spectacle of eerie delights, transforms the Broadwater Parklands into a realm of spooky wonders. At the heart of this ghostly celebration, food stalls offer a smorgasbord of tantalising treats, blending local flavours with Halloween-themed delights. Face painting stations dot the festival grounds, where skilled artists transform festival-goers into ghoulish figures and fantastical creatures, adding to the carnival of colours.
A highlight of the event is the thrilling Zombie March, where participants, adorned in elaborate undead costumes, shuffle and groan their way through the streets in a mesmerising parade. The atmosphere buzzes with excitement as the renowned band, Broken Peach, takes the stage with their electrifying performance, infusing the night with their unique blend of haunting melodies and rock vibes.
Amidst this festival of frights, attendees have the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the legendary Salem, Massachusetts, a town steeped in witchcraft history and Halloween lore. This grand prize weaves a thread of authentic spookiness into the festival, bridging continents in the spirit of Halloween.
The branding of this event is a critical element. The visual identity captures the essence of Halloween with a twist of coastal charm, blending eerie silhouettes with vibrant beach sunset hues. Typography plays with traditional Halloween motifs, intertwined with elements that reflect the Gold Coast’s iconic scenery. The branding is not just a visual treat but a story in itself, inviting viewers to immerse in an unforgettable Halloween experience.
